Sheet N04 Revision 1 Checked 15 October 2026

£20 free no deposit casino

£20.00 of credit that asks nothing back is still asked for one thing: a single pass through a game before it counts as money. At a 96 per cent return that pass costs 80p and leaves £19.20. Against the ten times a British licence would allow at most, the same credit leaves £12.00, so the phrase no wagering is worth £7.20 on these figures.

80p for one pass, £8.00 for ten, on £20.00 of credit

The figure at the foot of a receipt is this site's own arithmetic and nothing an operator has published: the credit, less the share a spin gives back at 96 per cent return to player, less what playing the wagering through costs at the same return. It describes the offer, not one reader's afternoon. Where the conditions price above the credit the receipt prints nothing rather than a negative sum, and where a figure the sum needs is unpublished it prints the condition in the operator's words instead.

Three words stand in the amount column where no figure can. Noted is a published condition that takes value away without leaving the sum a figure to take. Unpriced is a condition whose figure nobody has published, or a credit that is not a sum until a deposit of your own sets it. Own money is money of yours, which is never part of a total.

Not one of the operators printed above holds a Great Britain licence, so the duties that licence carries do not reach them. Every online gambling company licensed in Great Britain has to be part of Gamstop Online, and a reader who has shut themselves out through the scheme is therefore not shut out here. The ceiling of ten times the bonus funds on a wagering requirement, in force since 19 January 2026, is a condition of that licence and binds the companies that hold one. Where a dispute goes instead is a matter for the authority named on the receipt, and the Gambling Commission describes what a reader faces without a British licence as a lack of recourse if things go wrong. Nobody under 18 may hold an account at any of them.

Every term printed on a receipt is the operator's own, and each receipt carries the day it was read. The oldest of those readings is 15 October 2026. What binds a reader is the operator's own full terms, and not a line printed here.

1

Twenty pounds, and the word no

Credit of £20.00 handed over without a deposit is a number in an account with a label on it. The label is what separates it from a player’s own money, and the terms attached to the label are what this sheet prices.

A headline saying nothing is asked back is usually accurate about the large condition and silent about the small one. The large condition is a play-through multiple in the twenties or forties, and it genuinely is absent. The small one is that credit of this shape has to reach a game at least once before the cashier will treat it as withdrawable money.

That single pass is the subject of parts 2 to 6. It is not an abuse and it is not hidden. It is simply a wagering requirement of one, which is a wagering requirement all the same, and it costs exactly what the house edge of the game says it costs.

Held fixed on this sheet:

  • A credit of £20.00, with no deposit behind it.
  • A 96 per cent game, which makes the house edge 4 pence in the pound.
  • Weighting at full, since nothing is being cleared beyond the one pass.
  • A multiple of one. Forty times, the working figure used on the wagered sheets of this site, appears here only for comparison in part 3, because this key is about credit that deletes the requirement.
  • Nothing paid in, so the whole exposure is the credit.

2

Once is not none

Sheet N04 arrives at its total down the one line this site works with:

E = B × (1 – (W × (1 – RTP)) / g)

£20.00 goes in as B. W counts how many times the credit must be turned over, RTP is the proportion a game pays back, g is the weighting, and E is the expectation at the end. Two substitutions, and the distance between them is the whole sheet.

Nothing asked at all, W at nought:

E = £20.00 × (1 – 0) = £20.00

One pass asked, W at one:

E = £20.00 × (1 – (1 × 0.04) / 1)

E = £20.00 × 0.96 = £19.20

The gap is 80p, which is four pence in each pound of credit, which is the house edge and nothing else. A credit that must be staked once is worth the return of the game it is staked on, and a credit withdrawable without ever reaching a game is worth its face.

Eighty pence on twenty pounds is small. It is also the floor, and the point of stating it is that a reader now has a number to compare everything else against. Any clause costing more than 80p matters more than the pass does, and most of them do.

3

The same credit at seven multiples

Hold B at £20.00, the return at 96 per cent and the weighting at full, and let W run.

One credit, seven requirements
Multiple W Turnover due Edge on it Credit surviving How far past

25x£500.00£20.00nothingnil
40x£800.00£32.00nothing£12.00

Three rows are worth saying out loud. At ten times, the furthest a British licence lets a requirement run, a £20.00 credit still leaves £12.00. At twenty-five times it leaves nothing, and twenty-five is no accident of this particular credit. Put nought on the left of the line and W comes out as one over the house edge, which a 96 per cent return makes twenty-five exactly. At forty times the credit is gone before the requirement is met, and the £12.00 in the final column measures how far past the credit the condition reaches.

Seven falling bars showing what twenty pounds of credit leaves at play-through multiples of nought, one, two, five, ten, twenty-five and forty times.
Figure 1. What £20.00 of credit leaves at each requirement, at a 96 per cent return. The second bar is the one pass a no-wager credit still makes. The sixth is where the credit prices at nothing.

4

The eligible game decides the 80p

With W pinned at one, the only term left that can move the answer is the return of the game the credit is spent on. That is why the eligible game list matters more on a no-wager credit than it does anywhere else: it is not one input among several, it is the input.

One pass at five returns
Game return£20.00 leaves
92 per cent£18.40
94 per cent£18.80
95 per cent£19.00
96 per cent£19.20
97 per cent£19.40

Five percentage points of return move the answer by £1.00, which is more than the whole cost of the pass at the top of the range. Put differently: choosing between two eligible games can matter more than whether the pass exists.

Finding the figure is the problem. RTS 3C lets a licensee satisfy the disclosure duty with any one of several things: the chance of the winning events, the house edge, the return percentage, or an account of the rules and the way prizes are settled. The items are joined by or. A game can therefore be entirely compliant and still leave a player unable to work out whether the pass costs 60p or £1.60.

£1.00 of difference across five points of return

5

What the label is worth in pounds

A phrase on a promotion is worth the difference between the offer carrying it and the nearest offer without it. That is a subtraction, and the table in part 3 has both ends of it.

  • Against a requirement at the British ceiling of ten times, no wagering is worth £7.20 on a £20.00 credit.
  • Against twenty-five times, it is worth £19.20, which is the entire remaining value of the credit.
  • Against forty times, it is worth £19.20 as well, since a credit priced at nothing by twenty-five times has nothing further to give up, and the extra fifteen multiples do no more than lengthen the overrun.

Two things follow. The first is that the label is worth real money, and a reader who treats a no-wager credit as equivalent to a wagered one with the same headline is out by seven pounds twenty at best.

The second is that the label’s value has a ceiling of its own. It can never be worth more than the credit, and on these figures it tops out at £19.20. So if a cashier is prepared to give away a condition worth up to £19.20, some other part of the document is carrying that cost, and this section exists to find out which part.

6

How long one pass takes

Staking owed is W multiplied by B and divided by the weighting, which makes it a quantity of money rather than a count of games. The stake per cycle decides how many cycles that quantity becomes, and the stake does not appear in the line at all.

At 10p a cycle, £20.00 of staking is 200 cycles. A British licence keeps consecutive slot cycles at least 2.5 seconds apart, so two hundred of them take 500 seconds at the quickest: eight minutes and twenty seconds. At £1 a cycle the same money is twenty cycles and fifty seconds, and the foot still reads £19.20.

For contrast, the ten times row of the table is £200.00 of staking, which at 10p is two thousand cycles and a little over eighty-three minutes before anything can be paid out. The pass costs eight minutes; the ceiling costs an afternoon.

Neither total can be handed to a machine. RTS 8A wants the player to commit to each cycle separately, and its guidance carves out one narrow case, and that case is poker. Two hundred cycles is two hundred decisions.

Offshore, both floors are absent. Nothing in the Curaçao policy of 21 February 2025 sets a minimum gap between cycles or bars autoplay, so the same £20.00 can be passed through in whatever time the software takes.

7

The rules that make a one-times requirement visible

Where the cashier holds no Great Britain licence, the credit sits outside every rule below. Naming them one at a time beats handing down a verdict.

What counts as a wagering requirement

The British definition is broad and it catches the single pass. A wagering requirement exists where a customer has to place wagers adding to a stated value before funds turn withdrawable. One times the credit is a stated value. So a credit that must be staked once carries a wagering requirement of one, and is inside the ten-times ceiling by a factor of ten.

19 January 2026 is when that ceiling took hold. Every licence is covered except the gaming machine technical and the software ones, so no remote casino licence in Britain stands outside it. The regulator’s stated reason for setting it was that requirements of up to sixty times were being applied. On £20.00, sixty times is £1,200.00 of staking and £48.00 of expected cost against a credit of twenty pounds.

What has to be told to the player

The incentives code asks for terms that are clear, fair and transparent and easy for anyone offered the incentive to reach. Significant conditions have to be set out plainly and prominently under the advertising rules, and the Commission’s own guidance supplies the consequence: too little prominence on one of them makes the advertisement misleading.

What a licence puts under the play itself

Spend the credit at the biggest slot stake a British licence permits and £20.00 is four cycles, or ten where the player is under twenty-five and the figure falls to £2. Four cycles cannot be taken inside ten seconds, since 2.5 seconds is the least that may separate one from the next. No autoplay will run them, no turbo will shorten them, and a return of £5 on a £5 stake gets no celebration. Identity is established before any play, bonus play counted in. A complaint is finished within eight weeks and goes on to an approved adjudicator. The account is inside Gamstop Online because the licence puts it there.

What the Curaçao rulebook says instead

On bonuses, two things: communicate the terms transparently and clearly, and do not promote aggressively enough to encourage excessive gambling. There is no ceiling on a multiple, no definition of a wagering requirement, and no list of conditions that count as significant. The comparison is not one-way, and it is worth saying so: a deposit limit climbs there only after seven days have passed, against a single day here.

8

Which noun the requirement is fixed to

Everything above turns on a grammatical question, and it is worth asking in those terms. A requirement attaches to a noun. Find the noun.

Where a requirement can sit
Attached toCost on £20.00 at 1x
Nothing: the credit is cash£0.00
The credit itself£0.80
The winnings from the creditsee sheet N09
A deposit alongside itsee sheet N07

Rows three and four are where a no-wager headline most often survives contact with the document. A requirement lifted off the credit can land on what the credit wins, or on money the player paid in beside it, and the phrase on the front stays literally true throughout.

Sheet N09 takes the first of those: 30 free spins, keep what you win. Sheet N07 takes the second: deposit £5 and get 100 free spins with no wagering requirements. Sheet N01 does the ceiling over the win, under the key 50 free spins no deposit no wager, and the whole set sits at Nothing asked back.

One caution on the answer. £19.20 is an expectation and not a payment. It is what a credit of this size settles to across a large number of repetitions, and a single pass through a slot produces nothing at all a good deal more often than it produces twenty pounds. The number prices the offer and forecasts nothing whatever.

Questions

Is a £20 free no deposit credit really worth £20?
Worth £19.20 on these figures, because credit of this shape almost always has to pass through a game once before the cashier treats it as money. One pass at a 96 per cent return costs four pence in the pound, which is 80p on £20.00. Only a credit withdrawable without ever reaching a game is worth its face.
Does a single pass count as a wagering requirement?
Yes. The British definition covers any case where a customer must place wagers adding to a stated value before funds become withdrawable, and one times the credit is a stated value. A one-times requirement is therefore a wagering requirement that sits inside the ten-times ceiling by a factor of ten, which is why it is easy to describe an offer carrying it as asking nothing back.
What is the phrase no wagering actually worth?
£7.20 on a £20.00 credit, measured against the ceiling a British licence sets at ten times. Measured against twenty-five times or forty times it is worth £19.20, the whole remaining value, because at twenty-five times a credit at a 96 per cent return prices at nothing. The label can never be worth more than the credit.
Why does the eligible game matter so much here?
Because with the multiple pinned at one, the game’s return is the only remaining input. Five percentage points of return move the answer by £1.00 on a £20.00 credit, from £18.40 at 92 per cent to £19.40 at 97 per cent. That spread is wider than the cost of the pass itself at the top of the range.
Can I always find out what the game returns?
Not necessarily. RTS 3C is satisfied by any one of several disclosures: the chance of winning events, the house edge, the return percentage, or an account of the rules and how prizes are settled. They are joined by or, so a game can be fully compliant while leaving a player unable to tell whether the pass costs 60p or £1.60.
How long does the one pass take?
Eight minutes and twenty seconds at the quickest, at 10p a cycle. £20.00 of staking is 200 cycles, and a British licence keeps consecutive slot cycles at least 2.5 seconds apart, which makes 500 seconds. RTS 8A wants each cycle committed to separately, so it is two hundred decisions rather than one instruction.
At what multiple would a £20 credit be worth nothing?
Twenty-five times, where the game returns 96 per cent. Put nought on the left of the line and W comes out as one over the house edge, which is twenty-five exactly. Above that figure the credit runs out before the requirement is met, and at forty times the condition reaches £12.00 past the credit it was attached to.
Which protections are missing without a British licence?
Everything priced in part 7. No definition catching a one-times requirement, no ceiling stopping it at ten times, no prominence duty over significant conditions, no £5 or £2 limit making £20.00 four cycles rather than an unbounded number, no 2.5-second gap between those cycles, no bar on autoplay, no identity settled before bonus play begins, and no entry in Gamstop Online. Bonuses get two sentences in Curaçao’s rulebook, which defines a wagering requirement nowhere at all.
