Sheet P08 Revision 1 Checked 15 October 2026

Online slots UK

A £30.00 credit at forty turnovers owes £1,200.00 of staking, which is 12,000 presses at 10p and 8h 20m at the paced minimum. The reel room pays off that obligation at 4.00p a second, and nowhere else in the casino is the figure fixed by statute.

The figure at the foot of a receipt is this site's own arithmetic and nothing an operator has published: the credit, less the share a spin gives back at 96 per cent return to player, less what playing the wagering through costs at the same return. It describes the offer, not one reader's afternoon. Where the conditions price above the credit the receipt prints nothing rather than a negative sum, and where a figure the sum needs is unpublished it prints the condition in the operator's words instead.

Three words stand in the amount column where no figure can. Noted is a published condition that takes value away without leaving the sum a figure to take. Unpriced is a condition whose figure nobody has published, or a credit that is not a sum until a deposit of your own sets it. Own money is money of yours, which is never part of a total.

Not one of the operators printed above holds a Great Britain licence, so the duties that licence carries do not reach them. Every online gambling company licensed in Great Britain has to be part of Gamstop Online, and a reader who has shut themselves out through the scheme is therefore not shut out here. The ceiling of ten times the bonus funds on a wagering requirement, in force since 19 January 2026, is a condition of that licence and binds the companies that hold one. Where a dispute goes instead is a matter for the authority named on the receipt, and the Gambling Commission describes what a reader faces without a British licence as a lack of recourse if things go wrong. Nobody under 18 may hold an account at any of them.

Every term printed on a receipt is the operator's own, and each receipt carries the day it was read. The oldest of those readings is 15 October 2026. What binds a reader is the operator's own full terms, and not a line printed here.

1

The room where a pound usually counts as a pound

Reels are the room a bonus credit is nearly always sent to, and the reason is the rate. This is the one part of a licensed casino where a staked pound tends to be counted as a whole pound against a wagering requirement, which is why a slots list looks generous next to a table list in the same document.

It is also the most heavily built room in the estate. A reel-based game carries the paced game cycle, the ban on automatic play, the bar on hurrying a result, the hush imposed where a return merely matches a stake, and a statutory ceiling on the stake itself. Nothing else behind a cashier’s lobby carries the whole set, and the consequence is that a slots obligation can be measured in seconds rather than guessed at.

It is also the largest. Slots games alone reported £4.8 billion for the year to March 2026, on statistics released on 17 September 2026. A survey in its third annual edition, released on 16 July 2026, put participation in the previous four weeks at 47 per cent of adults, and at 27 per cent once players doing nothing but lottery draws come out. A caution travels with those two figures. Comparisons against surveys using a different method are described by the regulator as inappropriate, so the comparison that works is one wave of it against another.

The credit priced here is £30.00, carrying forty turnovers, which is the sort of multiple written against a credit of that size once the British register no longer applies. Ten runs beside it throughout, that being the ceiling a licensee has to work inside. The return is taken at 96 per cent, which is an assumption and is labelled as one every time it does any work.

What the room supplies, and what the cashier supplies:

  • From the room: a 2.5 second floor under every cycle, a stake ceiling of £5.00, and a return the game itself discloses.
  • From the cashier: a credit of £30.00, a multiple of forty, and a rate in a separate document.
  • Fixed by nobody: the rate. No published source records the rates in use, anywhere.
  • Fixed by nobody: the value of a press. Ten pence is this sheet’s input and no rule in Britain sets one.

2

Thirty pounds, twelve thousand presses

Four letters, and the room owns two of them while the cashier writes the others.

E = B × (1 – (W × (1 – RTP)) / g)

0.96 is RTP, £30.00 is B, forty is W, and g is 1.00 where a reel-based list counts in full. E is the line at the bottom in pounds and pence, and the two terms the room owns are the first and the last of those.

Worked with a pound counting as a pound, which is the reel room’s usual position: forty lots of £30.00 make £1,200.00 of staking owed, and four pence in the pound prices that at £48.00. That price exceeds the credit by £18.00, so £0.00 closes the sheet and the overrun records the size of the mismatch.

At the regulated ceiling the same credit turns over. Ten lots of £30.00 make £300.00, priced at £12.00, and £18.00 is expected to come through. One room, one credit, two multiples, and the answer swings by £36.00 between them.

Now the presses, which is where the reel room differs from everywhere else on this site. £1,200.00 of staking at ten pence a press is 12,000 presses, and two and a half seconds separate one cycle on a licensed reel-based game from the next. Twelve thousand of those, two and a half seconds apiece, come to 30,000 seconds: eight hours and twenty minutes, floor rather than expectation.

£1,200.00 owed, 12,000 presses, 8h 20m at the floor

3

Four pence a second, and where the figure comes from

Divide the stake by the interval and a reel room turns out to have a throughput, which no other room on this site has in a form anybody can calculate. At ten pence a press and two and a half seconds a press, staking passes through the room at four pence a second. Multiply by the rate and the answer is the speed at which the obligation is paid off.

Contribution a second = stake ÷ 2.5s × g

With a pound counting in full that is 4.00p a second. The obligation is £1,200.00, or 120,000 pence, so the arithmetic of the clock is one division: a hundred and twenty thousand over four, giving 30,000 seconds.

Two things make that figure interesting rather than merely tidy. The first is that it is the only throughput in British online gambling with a statutory denominator: the 2.5 seconds is a rule, not a design choice, so a cashier cannot shorten the clock by building a faster game. The second is that the numerator is a reader’s own decision, because the stake is the one quantity in the whole expression a player sets.

Raise the stake and the throughput rises in proportion, which is the only lever a reader holds over the clock.

The clock against the stake
Staked a pressPresses for £1,200.00At the 2.5s floor
Ten pence12,0008h 20m
Fifty pence2,4001h 40m
Two pounds, the ceiling under 2560025m
Five pounds, the ceiling above it24010m

The expected price is £48.00 on every line of that schedule, because four pence in the pound comes off the turnover and the turnover is the same £1,200.00 however it is divided up. What changes is the spread around the mean, which widens sharply as the presses get larger: eight hours of ten-pence cycles and ten minutes of five-pound cycles have the same expectation and nothing else in common.

4

The rate, and the ladder it builds

Everything above assumes the reel room’s usual position, a pound counted as a pound. Where a game list cuts that, the obligation does not move and the work does.

Four rates on £30.00
What the list counts Owed Staking Presses at 10p Paid off at Clock
A pound of each pound£1,200.00£1,200.0012,0004.00p a second8h 20m
Half of each pound£1,200.00£2,400.0024,0002.00p a second16h 40m
A fifth of each pound£1,200.00£6,000.0060,0000.80p a second41h 40m
A tenth of each pound£1,200.00£12,000.00120,0000.40p a second83h 20m

The second column is the one that never moves, and printing it beside the others is the point of the schedule. What is owed stands at £1,200.00 in every row. What the rate decides is how much has to be pushed through the room to earn it, and the throughput falls at exactly the speed the staking rises.

In pounds the ladder reads minus £18.00, minus £66.00, minus £210.00 and minus £450.00. The last of those is fifteen times the credit it was attached to, which is the point at which calling the thing an offer stops being accurate.

The threshold is one line of algebra. Anything survives only where the rate divides into the multiple to give less than twenty-five, twenty-five being the inverse of four pence. Rearranged for the rate, a list has to count at better than the multiple over twenty-five: above 0.40 at ten turnovers, above 0.80 at twenty, and above 1.60 at forty, which no pound can reach. Above twenty-five turnovers no rate rescues the credit, because a staked pound cannot be made to count for more than a pound.

Which is why a reel room’s usual rate matters so much more than its headline. A cashier that leaves the high-return games off the list, or counts them at a fifth, has moved the offer two rows down that schedule without altering a digit anybody advertises.

Four bars of the hours needed at the paced minimum, eight and a third, sixteen and two thirds, forty one and two thirds and eighty three and a third, against the rate a pound counts at.
Figure 1. Hours against the rate, measured at the paced minimum. The bars are a reciprocal of the rate, so the move from a fifth down to a tenth takes longer than both steps above it together.

5

Two pounds, five pounds, and what a reel is

The stake is bounded here by statute and nowhere else in the casino, which is worth pricing rather than repeating.

No single game cycle may carry more than five pounds, and no more than two pounds for a player below the age of 25. The instrument doing that was made on 25 February 2025; it says the Regulations begin six weeks after the day they were made and prints no calendar date at all. The calendar belongs to the regulator instead. Five pounds has applied since 9 April 2025 and two pounds since the 21st of May, six weeks apart, with everybody under the higher ceiling in between.

Scope is narrow and worth quoting correctly. The subject of those Regulations is an online casino game resting on reels, reels meaning any arrangement of moving or changing images or text whose result decides whether a prize or some other advantage falls due. Neither ceiling leaves the reels: the guidance keeps both limits inside online slots and says they do not reach the rest of the casino.

The ceiling does most of its work at the bottom of the part 4 ladder. The £12,000.00, owed where a tenth of a pound counts, is 2,400 presses at five pounds apiece instead of 120,000 at ten pence, and 1h 40m instead of 83h 20m. The expected price is £480.00 either way, since the edge takes four pence whatever size the presses are, and the variance around it becomes very large indeed.

A reader under 25 cannot take that route. Two pounds a cycle makes the same obligation 6,000 presses and 4h 10m, which is the clearest thing on this sheet about who the stake ceilings are for. A maximum stake written into the bonus terms is usual for as long as a credit runs, no published rule fixes one, and a low maximum stake sitting beside a low rate is the combination that makes a reel offer unfinishable instead of merely unprofitable.

6

What else the reel room is built to

Six further standards pin the clock in part 3 where it stands, and each answers one obvious way of trying to shorten it.

Slots are what the interval is written about. Two and a half seconds at least must separate the start of one game from the commencement of the cycle after it, and the start control has to be released then depressed once more, so a held button yields nothing. On the guidance a cycle opens when the player starts the game and closes once every penny staked or won has either gone or been delivered, with the control available once more, and a separate commitment is wanted for each one.

That same demand for an individual commitment bars automatic play right across gaming, bingo included, and its only carve-out is the poker blind that gets posted without the player acting. Hurrying a result is barred by a separate requirement, which strikes slam stop, quick spin and turbo from every remote game however fast it runs natively, excusing only a control that reveals or scratches the lot in one go and a feature round drawing no further stake.

Two more govern what the room may say to a reader as the staking is worked off. A return that does not exceed the total staked gets neither a win-related sound nor a win-related animation, which across 12,000 cycles is a great many results shown as the small returns they are. Three substitutes are suggested: the total awarded displayed, the winning lines flashed up, and a brief sound as the money is credited. Prohibited too are designs that might reasonably leave a customer wrong about the odds of a result, the two named being a near-miss put in place of an ordinary loss, and a simulation of a real device running on probabilities the device does not have.

The last two are about the number itself. Acceptable randomness is demanded of results and a compensated game is refused, which the guidance reads as a bar on any intervention shifting the probabilities, with outcomes having to fall out as the theoretical figures say. Nor may a game already in play have its outcome probabilities, its payouts or its rules changed, and a term keeping back a right to rewrite the rules at will is named unacceptable. Those are the requirements that make a published 96 per cent a claim about the long run rather than a decoration.

12,000 cycles, 30,000 seconds, none of them compressible

7

Ten turnovers, and one type of product

Two provisions of the code on incentives reach a slots bonus directly, and 19 January 2026 is when both started.

The first holds the multiple at ten turnovers of bonus funds, and that is the one regulated digit in the whole of this page’s arithmetic. What it was correcting went on the record too: before the cap, wagering requirements running up to sixty times were applied by some licensees. Nothing published says whether a free spin is bonus funds for that purpose, and the gap is left as it stands in both directions, though a spin’s winnings arriving as bonus funds are plainly caught by the ten-turnover limit.

The second allows one incentive one type of gambling product. Casino, betting, bingo and lottery are the four it names. Reels count as casino, so a cash match arriving with free spins keeps to one type; line the spins up with bingo tickets and the incentive has two types in it, which the rule catches. Three exemptions run against expectation. Products drawn from a single type may share an incentive, two of them, with a scratchcard beside a raffle the regulator’s own illustration. Marketing consent reaching both products allows one email to hold a betting offer and a casino one. And a credit the holder may spend as they like is outside the ban completely.

What neither provision does is touch the rate, and that is the gap this whole section exists to describe. Bonus funds and the multiple are the ceiling’s subject; weighting came up in the consultation that produced it, was recorded, and was left alone. So a licensee can comply exactly with ten turnovers and still put a reader in a room where the effective multiple is a hundred, which no rule requires anybody to print.

Terms attached to the credit have a standard of their own. The provision on incentives bites the instant a licensee holds out services, goods, money or any other advantage, and it asks for conditions that are clear, that are fair, that are transparent, and that anybody offered the thing can reach without difficulty. A game list that a reader meets only in a third document sits badly against that, and nothing published says how many documents is too many.

8

Off the register the clock stops being a clock

Reel rooms away from the British register hold no Great Britain licence, and on this page in particular the loss is a loss of arithmetic rather than of reassurance, because almost every figure in parts 3 to 6 rests on a rule.

Taken together and in one breath, what goes is this: the ten-turnover ceiling on the multiple, and with it the only regulated digit here; the ban on one incentive carrying two product types; the five pound ceiling on a cycle and the two pound one below the age of 25; the 2.5 second floor that makes the clock a clock at all; the bar on a system undertaking a cycle on a player’s behalf; the bar on turbo and on slam stop; the ban on dressing up a return that does not exceed what was staked; the bar on two games running side by side; the prohibition on a near-miss standing in for an ordinary loss; the requirement that results distribute themselves as the theoretical figures say; the bar on rewriting rules or payouts in play; the duty, before a single cycle and with free-to-play and bonus play alike inside it, to establish who the customer is by name, by address and by date of birth; and the site’s membership of the national self-exclusion scheme.

Of those the paced cycle is the one that changes this page most. The staking does not move, the expected price does not move, and the eighty-three hours at the foot of the ladder simply stop being eighty-three hours. No interval between one cycle and the next is set by the island rulebook consulted for this build, no ceiling on a stake, no ceiling on a multiple, and no rule whatever on the rate a game counts at. Its mandatory list covers general marketing principles, the training of staff and of affiliates, deposit limits, self-exclusion and cooling-off, behaviour tracking, player self-assessment, accessible information and age verification. Bonuses occupy two sentences of it, one asking for transparent terms and one asking that promotion not encourage excessive play.

An industry warning notice carrying the date 20 January 2025 sets out what the regulator has seen on unlicensed websites: controls called inadequate on both social responsibility and money laundering, with customers exposed to unfair practices, to data privacy issues and to fraud. The same notice records that games supplied by licensed operators have turned up on unlicensed websites, so a reel set a reader recognises settles nothing whatever about the licence behind it.

One honest qualification, because hand-waving in either direction is barred. A complaints route survives out there, and it would be wrong to suggest otherwise. Six months from the incident is the window the island rulebook gives, four weeks the operator’s time to answer, extendable once by four more on written notice, with adjudication compulsory and free of charge to the player. The operator is then left to fix how that adjudication works, down to whether its outcome binds the player at all.

9

Reading a reel room before the credit lands

Six readings, in the order a set of documents gives them up.

What to establish, in order
The stepHere
The credit, from the offer£30.00
The multiple, from the wagering clause40x
Owed, W times B£1,200.00
The rate, from the game list1.00
Throughput, stake over 2.5s times rate4.00p a second
The clock, owed over throughput8h 20m

The fourth line is the hard one to locate and the one that decides everything, and where a column prints several rates, take the figure for whichever games are actually permitted rather than the best in the list. The fifth and sixth lines are the ones nobody calculates, and they are the two a reel room makes available, because the denominator is a rule rather than a preference.

Then the test, which takes a moment. Divide the multiple by the rate. Clear twenty-five and there is nothing at the foot, leaving only the question of how many hours that nothing takes. At forty turnovers and a pound counted in full the answer is forty, so the question is the hours, and the hours are eight and a third at ten pence a press.

Two cautions. Every figure here is a mean, and a mean describes a long sequence of such credits rather than an evening, the commonest single result of thirty pounds being nothing whatever. And a condition with no place in that expression can shut the answer down with the rate, the multiple and the return all exactly as they were: a cap set over the bonus’s own winnings, or a discretion kept in reserve by the operator. The second has a published outcome behind it: £170,000, dated 3 July 2025, over a set of bonus rules written for new casino promotions in which the operator kept a right to shut accounts and to withhold winnings. Fair and open dealing was the condition found breached. The money changed hands and the clause itself survived, so nobody should treat wording of that shape as void.

Rooms on either side, same arithmetic: live casino UK prices a room whose return goes unpublished, top 20 slots UK takes one credit across twenty different rates, and new online slots asks what a release has to hand back. The room carries the rest of the set.

Questions

What is a £30.00 slots bonus worth at forty times?
Nothing at the foot. Forty turnovers of £30.00 come to £1,200.00 of staking, which four pence in the pound prices at £48.00, or £18.00 above the credit. At ten turnovers, the British ceiling, the staking is £300.00, the price £12.00 and £18.00 is expected to survive. One credit, two multiples, and a swing of £36.00.
How long does a slots play-through actually take?
Eight hours and twenty minutes on this credit, at ten pence a press. Staking of £1,200.00 is 12,000 presses, and the gap between one cycle and the next cannot fall under two and a half seconds, so 12,000 cycles take 30,000 seconds. That is a floor and not an estimate: automatic play is out, and so is any feature that would shorten the wait for a result.
What is the four pence a second figure?
The speed at which a reel room pays off a wagering obligation. Ten pence staked every 2.5 seconds is four pence of staking a second, and multiplying by the rate gives the contribution earned a second. At a pound counted in full that is 4.00p, so £1,200.00 owed, or 120,000 pence, takes 30,000 seconds. It is the only throughput in British online gambling with a statutory denominator.
Can a bigger stake clear the wagering faster?
Up to the statutory ceiling, yes, and the effect is large. The same £1,200.00 is 12,000 presses and 8h 20m at ten pence, 2,400 presses and 1h 40m at fifty pence, 600 presses and 25m at two pounds, and 240 presses and 10m at five pounds. The expected price is £48.00 on every one of those routes, and the spread around it widens sharply as the presses get bigger.
Do the statutory stake ceilings cover the whole casino?
No. Neither ceiling leaves the reels: the guidance keeps both limits inside online slots and says they do not reach the rest of the casino. The Regulations behind them were made on 25 February 2025, define their subject as an online casino game resting on reels, and print no calendar date, so the dates come from the regulator: 9 April 2025 for five pounds and 21 May 2025 for two.
What rate does a game have to count at for anything to survive?
Better than one twenty-fifth of the multiple, since twenty-five is what four pence in the pound inverts to. That means better than 0.40 at ten turnovers and better than 0.80 at twenty. At forty turnovers it means better than 1.60, beyond the reach of any pound, and past twenty-five turnovers no rate helps, a pound being unable to count as more than a pound.
Why do slots usually count in full when other rooms do not?
No published source supplies a reason or a rate in current use, so each rate here is an input and not a finding. What can be shown is the consequence. The obligation stays at £1,200.00 whatever the rate, so halving the rate doubles the staking to £2,400.00 and the clock to 16h 40m, a fifth takes them to £6,000.00 and 41h 40m, and a tenth to £12,000.00 and 83h 20m.
Does the ten times ceiling cover the rate as well?
No. Bonus funds and the multiple are its subject, and weighting was raised with the consultation that produced it, recorded, and then left untouched. A licensee can therefore comply exactly with ten turnovers and still put a reader in a room where the effective multiple is a hundred, with nothing requiring the larger figure to be printed.
Can a package put free spins with bingo tickets?
Not within a single incentive at a British cashier, the date being 19 January 2026. A single incentive gets one product type, drawn from casino, betting, bingo and lottery. Reels are casino and so is a cash match, so spins alongside a match keep to a single type, while spins alongside bingo tickets make two. Two products from inside one type may share an incentive, a raffle with a scratchcard being the regulator’s instance.
What goes missing in an offshore reel room?
The arithmetic, mostly. Such rooms hold no Great Britain licence. Gone with it: the 2.5 second floor, the stake ceilings of £5.00 and £2.00, the ban on automatic play, the bar on slam stop and turbo, the ban on dressing up a return that does not exceed what was staked, the near-miss prohibition, the bar on rewriting a game mid-play, and the ten-turnover ceiling. The staking and the expected price are unchanged. What changes is that eighty-three hours stops being eighty-three hours.
